Giant Cullinan rough diamond sells for record $35 Million

The “Cullinan Heritage,” a 507-carat piece of rough unearthed in September at the Cullinan mine in South Africa, garnered $35.3 million, or about $69,557 per carat, at tender.
 

London–Petra Diamonds Ltd. announced today that a 507-carat piece of rough unearthed at its Cullinan mine in September sold for $35.3 million, the highest sale price on record ever achieved for a rough diamond. Read the rest of this entry »
